Polini Speed Control Variator
speedcontrol
I decided that I would fit a Polini speed control variator kit my scooter and I wanted to iron out some of the dead patches that the original variator setup. On top of that if you beleive the marketing it could make a small increase on the top speed as well.

Why Polini?
There are many good manufacturers of variators for the Ludix Blaster. I however only know first hand Polini and Malossi. Both are superb variators but the Polini was in stock when I ordered.

Notes:
The kit contains a replacement belt, two sets of weights, two sets of contra springs as well as the variator. One set is set for tuned 50 cc engines whilst the other for tuned 70 cc engines. As my engine was not tuned anymore than derestriction I simply fitted the variator using the roller weights supplied with my Leo Vince TT exhaust, fitted the upgraded belt and left the contra springs in the box for a future time.
To remove and refit the variator you will need a variator holding tool ( a universal one works well) and a torque wrench.

Verdict:
Fitting the Polini variator transformed the feeling of the power to the back wheel. From the moment the clutch flew out until the speedo wrapped around to the X in Ludix the pull was full and even. Nice addition to a Ludix Blaster already fitted with an aftermarket exhaust.
Shame no one can see it.
